To define the different types the familie uses type Catalogs. These allow you to only load the desired types of a particular product in your project, resulting in a smaller project size.

Note: However, this does mean that the family should not be loaded via drag and drop, given the type catalog is then ignored.

The following steps can be followed in order to load types of families using a type catalog:

  • The families can be loaded into the project via Insert ► Load Family.
  • When browsing in the right location, the desired family can be chosen.
  • The desired types within the selected family can be chosen when you click "Open". At this stage you can make use of filters

The selected types will be loaded into the project when clicking OK . These can now be selected using the appropriate category. The Continuous Louvre Walls - DucoWall and the Vertical Architectural Sun Control - DucoSun are louvre walls that are defined in a Family Package. A Package is a Revit Project (template) with the different Types. For both systems we use a System Family. System Families in Revit are Families that are predefined in Templates and Projects. You can not create, customize or load it by yourself from a library. You can define additional Types within the System Families in a Template or Project. For both systems we use the Curtain Walls. The Curtain Wall uses Mullions (support profiles and blades in Vertical Architectural Sun Control - DucoSun ) and Basic Walls (blades in Continuous Louvre Walls - DucoWall ).
